Sirach
29-31: Help others in their time of need.
When people ask you for help, do not turn them away. Do not let your children grow up wild.
Teach them self control and self-discipline from their earliest years.
Good health is better than silver and gold.
Better to be poor and healthy than rich and sick. Do not give in to brooding and fretting when
things go wrong.
Even in the saddest situation, look for light at the end of the tunnel. Avoid jealously and anger.
Jealously and anger will shorten your life. A moderate diet will help you sleep well.
Gluttony produces sleeplessness, biliousness and grumpiness. Wine was made to cheer our hearts.
But drinking to excess will reduce your strength.
Lord, please help me be
moderate with food and drink
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
16: Please protect me, Lord, I take refuge in
you.
You are the only source of all true happiness. I bless you, Lord, who guide and lead me.
Even at night you direct my heart. And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad.
My body shall rest in safety now and always. You will show me the path of life,
the fullness of joy in your presence,
at your right hand, happiness for ever.
Thank you, Lord, for the little
joys you give us each day
....and the big joy you've prepared for us in Heaven.
Listen

Corinthians 6.18-20:
We should respect our bodies as a gift from
the Lord.
Our bodies are not meant for fornication. Avoid sexual activity that avoids commitment.
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who
lives in you.
Let people know that your body is not something to be profaned
Jesus, please help me avoid sex outside

John
10.11-14:
Jesus said to the religious leaders "I am
the Good Shepherd.
The Good Shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep. A hired man, since he has no real concern for
the sheep,
abandons them and runs away if he sees a wolf coming. I am the Good Shepherd.
I know my own sheep, and my own sheep know me"
Jesus, Good Shepherd, please help me to be a
good sheep, and a good shepherd

Sirach
25-28: Happy the husband of a really good
wife.
A good wife is the joy of her husband. Do not praise a person before they have
spoken.
A person's speech reveals what sort of person is speaking. Among stupid people look for an opportunity to
leave,
but among thoughtful people take your time. Sarcasm and abuse are the mark of an arrogant
person.
Resentment and anger are bad for everyone. Forgive others if they have offended you.
Then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven. Avoid quarrelling and losing your temper.
Do not let your mouth speak scandal.
Lord, please give me the wisdom
to control my speech
My
recording of this reading

Psalms
14-15: So many people live and act as if God doesn't exist.
Some foolish people even say there is no God. So many people have left the way of justice and truth.
So many people follow the way of falsehood. Lord, help us to live as we
should.
Help us not to slander, help us not to wrong others.
Lord,
help us to stand firm in the
way of goodness

Corinthians 5.8-11: Get rid of all evil and wickedness from your
life. Replace them with sincerity and truth.
People who do wrong will not inherit the
kingdom of God: people of immoral lives, idolaters, adulterers, catamites,
sodomites, thieves, usurers, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers. Some of you were like that once, but now you
have been washed clean and sanctified by Jesus Christ and his Spirit
Jesus, help me avoid doing bad things. Help me do more good things
Listen

John
10.1-10: Jesus said to the religious leaders "I
am the gate of the sheepfold. If anyone enters the sheepfold by some other
means than the gate, that person is a thief. The person who enters by the gate is the
shepherd of the flock. The sheep hear his voice as he calls each one by
name and leads them out of the sheepfold. When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of
them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. The thief comes only to steal and kill and
destroy. I have come so that people may have life, not just now but for
ever"
Jesus, Good Shepherd, please help more and
more people hear your voice and follow you

Acts 3.9-16: When
people saw the former crippled man walking, they couldn't believe their eyes. So
Peter said to them "Why are you so surprised? Do you think John and I made
this cripple walk? It is by our faith in Jesus that this man has been restored
to health. Jesus is the Holy One, the Just One, the
Prince of Life whom you handed over to Pilate for
crucifixion. But God raised him from the dead.
Jesus, Prince of Life, please increase my faith in you. Please give me a
faith that can bring your healing to handicapped people
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
4: At
the end of this day I praise you, Lord, for all your love and help. O
people of the world, how long will you close your hearts to God? How long you
will keep on chasing false goals? Lord, you have put into my heart a joy that
cannot be obtained by big meals and plenty of wine. I will lie down in peace and
sleep comes at once, for you, Lord, make me dwell in safety and peace.
Thank you, Lord, for your love and help right through today

John 2.3-6: We can be sure we
know God only by keeping his commandments. Anyone who says "I know
him" and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, refusing to admit the
truth. We can be sure we are in God only
if we are living the same kind of life as Christ lived.
Jesus, please help me live like you, live for you
Listen

Luke
24.36-49: The disciples
were still talking about what had happened when suddenly Jesus himself stood
among them. At first they were terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost.
But he said "Look at my hands and feet. Yes, it is I indeed. Touch me and
see for yourselves. A ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have".
Their fear turned to joy but they still couldn't believe what they were seeing.
So he asked them for something to eat, and they gave him some grilled fish which
he ate in front of them. Then
he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and he said "So
you see how it is written that the Christ would suffer, and on the third day
rise from the dead. And that in his name repentance for the forgiveness of sins
would be preached to all the nations. Soon I will send down to you what the
Father promised (the Holy Spirit). Stay in Jerusalem until you are clothed with
this power from on high".
Jesus, increase my faith in your resurrection, and open my mind to
understand the Bible better

John
9.1-33: Once when Jesus was walking along the road,
he saw a man who had been blind from birth. Jesus spat on the ground and made some mud
with the spittle. He put the mud on the man's eyes, and said
"Go and wash in the Siloam Pool". The blind man went and washed, and came away
able to see. When the blind man heard people criticize
Jesus, he said "Ever since the world began, it has never been
recorded that someone opened the eyes of a man born blind. This man must be from God"
Jesus, please heal my blind friend ....(name)

Sirach 20-23: People who foolishly talk too much become

The talk of a wise person is a pleasure to hear. Lord, do not give me proud eyes.

Christ. On that foundation you can build a house with

8.42-58: Jesus said to the people "If God were your father, you would
love me, since I have come from God and I speak the truth. You avoid the
truth, because your father is the father of lies, the Devil. Abraham rejoiced at the thought of my coming. He saw it in the
future and was glad". The people said "You are not yet 50 years old. How could you
have seen Abraham?" Jesus replied "I tell you, before Abraham
ever was, I Am". The people then picked up stones to throw at Jesus for claiming to
be God. But Jesus safely left the Temple
Jesus, you who existed as God the Son from all

Sirach 15-19:
Wisdom makes us happy. Foolishness makes us
sad.
Humility is the pathway to wisdom. We are free to choose good or evil, wisdom or
foolishness.
To live a good life is something everyone can try to do. If we have done something wrong, we must ask
pardon of the Lord.
We must turn our back on wrongdoing, and face towards the Lord. Do not indulge in luxurious living.
Too much wine and luxury corrupts the heart. Avoid gossip and slander.
Be someone who can keep a secret. The way people dress tells you what work they
do.
The way people walk also tells a lot about them.
Lord, please help me turn my
back on wrongdoing.
Help me face towards you

Corinthians 1.18 - 2.9: The language of the Cross doesn't make sense
for some people. But for us it is God's power to save.
While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks
require philosophy, here we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews
an obstacle they cannot get over, to the pagans madness. During my stay with you, I relied not on
philosophy or my own efforts, but only on the power of the Spirit. The wisdom we teach is about things no eye has

God has prepared for those who love him

John 8.1-11: While Jesus was teaching in the Temple, the
religious leaders brought to him a women who had been caught committing
adultery. The leaders said to Jesus "According to
the Law of Moses, this woman should be stoned to death. What do you
say?" They said this to test him, looking for something
to use against him. Jesus bent down and started writing on the
ground with his finger. Since they kept up their questioning, he looked up
and said to them "If there is one of you who has not sinned, let him
be the first to cast a stone". Then he kept writing on the ground. The leaders went away, beginning with the
eldest, until Jesus was left alone with the woman. Jesus said to her
"Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? "No one, sir", she replied.
"Neither do I condemn you", said Jesus. "Go and don't sin
any more"
Jesus, what did you write on the ground? The
leaders' sins?
"If you, O Lord, should write a record of our sins, who could
claim innocence?"
