Last Friday at Lai Chi Kok men's prison I had a one hour chat
with a man from Mainland China arrested at HK airport with drugs from Africa....
tricked online by a love scam. I felt sure he was innocent so I got him to sign
a bail application form. Back home I contacted his lawyer who said bail was a
good Plan B ...but there was already a Plan A: a letter had been sent to the
Department of Justice asking for the case to be dropped. ...since many love
messages were available to show it really was a love scam. Late yesterday
afternoon a W/App message from the lawyer: DoJ dropped the case! THANK
YOU JESUS!

Peter 1.12-18: As long as I
am in this passing world, my duty is to keep on reminding you of the truths we
hold dear. Writing this letter is one way of making sure that after my departure
you will still have a way of recalling the truths we hold dear. These truths are
not cleverly invented myths. I myself saw the majesty of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He was honored and glorified by God the Father, when the Sublime Glory
himself spoke to him and said "This is my Son, the Beloved. He enjoys my
favor". I
heard this myself, spoken from heaven, when I was with Jesus on the holy
mountain.

for us to be here!" Then a bright cloud covered them with its shadow. From
the cloud came a voice: "This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him."

Then I will say to those on my

"Go away from me and join Satan and his angels in hell. For I was hungry, and you never
gave me food.
I was thirsty, and you never gave me anything to drink.
I was a stranger, and you never made me welcome,
naked, and you never clothed me,
sick and in prison, and you never visited me". Those on my left will then ask
"Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked,
sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" I will answer
"Each time you refused to help and care for a poor person,
you refused to help and care for me". Those on the left will then go to
eternal punishment.
Those on the right will go to eternal life.
Jesus, please help me do more for poor people.
Make me understand that when I help a poor person, I help you

Psalm
78: Listen, everyone, to my
teaching. I will recount the lessons of our history. The things our parents have
told us, we will not hide from our children, but will pass
them on to the next generation. We want
the next generation to know all that the Lord has done for us in the past.
May the next generation in turn pass on this knowledge to their own children, so
that they too will put their hope in God and never forget all that God has done
for us. May future generations not be like our ancestors who so often were
unfaithful to God. Even though our ancestors had seen God part the sea, even
though they had seen him provide food and water for them in the desert,
still they went on sinning. Yet he who is full of compassion forgave and spared
them. He remembered they were only weak humans. Eventually he brought them to
the promised land and gave a home to each of Israel's tribes. But still they
sinned by building mountain shrines and serving idols. Then God raised up David
to be their leader. God called him from looking after sheep to be the
shepherd of his people.
Lord, help us not to forget all you have done for us

For me these readings are a main part of my daily spiritual food .... morning ..... during the day ....evening. Jonah
2-4: God arranged for a big fish to swallow Jonah.
Jonah was in the fish for 3 days. Inside the fish, Jonah prayed to God for help.
God heard Jonah's prayer and got the fish to vomit Jonah on the shore. Again God told Jonah to preach repentance in
Nineveh.
This time Jonah did as God requested.
"Forty days and Nineveh will be destroyed" he proclaimed. The people of Nineveh believed God's message.
They put on sackcloth and ashes. They fasted and prayed.
They repented of their evil behavior. God saw their change of heart and spared
Nineveh.
Jonah complained to God:
"Your change of mind will cause me a big loss of face." God said to Jonah:
"Do I not have the right to show compassion to my people?"
Lord, please help me repent of

Yesterday on behalf of MercyHK I signed a three-year contract for
the G/F premises at 192 Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei ... 3 mins walk from
MercyHK's canteen in Temple Street. 192 will be a place for street sleepers to
use in the day time ... and probably will be called "Home of MercyHK".
It will also be the base of our social worker Simon and case worker Shirley.
Please God the centre will be ready for use by early September. Thank
you Jesus!
