All over HK, shops closed down, fewer people on the streets, few
non-Mainland tourists, people leaving for other countries etc. Maybe it's time
to revive an idea I had many years ago ....it could be done in updated way from
that described in the following file ....it could be done in the West Kowloon
Cultural area (which is so much of a white elephant that some of the land is
being sold off) - a Jesus
Tower for HK!

Genesis
5-6: Among Adam and Eve's
descendants were Seth, Enosh, Kenan and Enoch.
Enoch was a special friend of God.
Enoch walked with God.
Another good man who walked with God was Noah.
In Noah's time, most people had forgotten God. Most people did bad things.
So God decided to cleanse the earth by a great flood.
To save Noah and his family from the flood,
God got Noah to build a huge boat for his family
and for two animals of every kind.
Even though most people forgot God,
Noah believed in God and trusted God.
Dear God, please
help me to remember you, to walk with you
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
145: I will give you glory, O God my king.
I will bless your name day after day. The Lord is great, worthy of all praise.
His greatness cannot be measured. Age to age shall proclaim your works,
shall speak of your splendor and glory. The Lord is kind and full of
compassion,
slow to anger, abounding in love. How good is the Lord to all,
compassionate to all his creatures. All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord,
and tell all the world of your love. The Lord is faithful in all his words
and loving in all his deeds. The Lord supports all who fall
and raises all who are bowed down. The eyes of all creatures look to you
and you give them their food each day. The Lord is close to all who call him,
who call on him from their hearts. Let the whole world bless the Lord's holy
name,
for ever, for ages unending.
Thank you, Lord, for your love.
Thank you for your love

Timothy 3.1-15: To want to be a presiding elder is to want to
do a noble work.
That is why the president must be above reproach: He must not have been married more than once.
He must be temperate, discreet, courteous, hospitable, a good teacher, not
a heavy drinker, not hot-tempered, but kind and peaceable. He must not be a lover of money. He must be a
man who manages his family well and brings up his children well. How could anyone who can't manage his
own family
be given responsibility to manage God's family? He should not be a new convert in case he
becomes full of pride. The Church of the
living God is God's family.
The Church is the guardian of the truth
Jesus, please give the Church good leaders

Matthew
26.69-75: Peter went to the place where the religious
leaders had Jesus on trial.
A young woman in the courtyard of the place said to him
"You are a friend of the Galilean". In front of the woman and people
around her
Peter said "I don't know what you're talking about". Peter went to the gateway of the
place, where another woman said to people around her "This man is a
friend of the Galilean".
Peter replied strongly "I don't know the man". Not long after this a group of
people said to Peter
"You are his friend. We can tell by your Galilean accent". Then Peter even more strongly
replied "I do not know the man". At that very moment, a rooster
crowed.
Peter remembered Jesus' words "Before the rooster crows, you will
deny me three times". Peter went outside and wept loudly.
Jesus, please help me not to deny you. Give me courage to say "I am a Christian"

Reflection: Jesus chose a married man to be the first Pope. Saint Paul (above) speaks about married men becoming "elders" (priests). But for the past 1,000 years, the Church has virtually excluded married men from the priesthood. And, sadly, it seems that the topic of married men becoming priests has been deleted from the coming October Synod in Rome.

Genesis
4: Two of Adam and Eve's
sons were Cain and Abel.
Cain was a farmer. Abel was a shepherd.
Cain was jealous of his brother Abel.
God said to Cain: "Get control of yourself."
But Cain let his anger take over, and he killed Abel.
God asked Cain, "Where is Abel?"
Cain answered, "How should I know? I'm not his security guard."
God replied, "I can hear your brother's blood crying out to me from
the ground. That same ground will no longer give you any crops."

144: Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who gives me strength for every situation. He is my love, my fortress.
He is my stronghold, my savior. To you, O God, will I sing a new song,
you who so often rescued David your servant. Happy the people whose God is the
Lord.
Please continue to bless your people, Lord. Let our sons flourish like saplings
grown tall and strong from their youth;
our daughters graceful as columns,

Let our crops and stock be blessed.
May there be no sound of weeping on our streets.

Don't let us ever forget your love

Timothy 1.18 - 2.8: Timothy, my son, as I
give you advice for practical issues, remember how the church elders
prayed over you that you would be a good leader. My
first bit of advice
is that there should be prayers offered for everyone, especially for kings
and others in authority, so that we can live our life of faith in peace
and quiet. God wants everyone to
be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth. There is only one God,
and there is only one mediator between God and humanity, himself a man,
Christ Jesus, who sacrificed himself as a ransom for everyone. In every place, I want
believers to lift up their hands in reverent prayer
God our Father, through
Jesus your Son, I ask a blessing on the leaders of our world, especially
the leaders of my own country

Matthew
26.57-68: The men who arrested Jesus took him to a
meeting of the religious leaders. The leaders wanted to condemn Jesus to
death,
even if they had to use false evidence. Jesus remained silent before
their accusations.
Then the main leader challenged Jesus:
"Are you the Saviour, the Son of God?" Jesus replied "Yes".
The main leader then called out "We have heard him claim to be of Divine
origin. This is blasphemy". The rest of the leaders shouted
"He should die".
Then they spat in Jesus' face and hit him with their fists.
Jesus, thank you for submitting yourself to
insult and spittle
for the salvation of the world

c.f. readings for Sunday 19:
1 Kings 19.4-8: Elijah went into the wilderness, a day's journey, and sitting under a furze bush wished he were dead. "O Lord," he said "I have had enough. Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." Then he lay down and went to sleep. But an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." He looked round, and there at his head was a scone baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. But the angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, or the journey will be too long for you." So he got up and ate and drank, and strengthened by that food he walked for forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

Psalm
34: I will bless the Lord
at all times, his praise always on my lips. In the Lord my soul shall make its
boast, the humble shall hear and be glad. Glorify the Lord with me, together let
us praise his name. I sought the Lord and he answered me. From all my terrors he
set me free. The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who revere the Lord,
to rescue them. Taste
and see that the Lord is good. They are happy who seek refuge in him. The
Lord is close to the broken-hearted. Those whose spirits are crushed he will
save.
Lord, by our Bible
reading and prayer, may we taste and see your goodness each day

Ephesians
4.22-32: You
must give up your old way of life. You must put aside your old self and its
delusions. Your mind must be renewed by a spiritual revolution, so that you can
follow a way
of life based on goodness and truth. From now on, no more lies. Delete
anger from your mind at the end of each day. Anyone who was a thief must stop
stealing. Try to find a decent job. Guard against foul talk. Let your
conversation encourage people, not drag them down. Avoid grudges. Don't lose
your temper. Don't raise your voice to anyone. Don't call people names. Be
friends with one another, and kind, forgiving one another as readily as God
forgives us in Christ

6.42-51: The people
criticized Jesus saying "We know his father and mother. How can he
say he has come down from heaven?" Jesus replied "I am the bread of
life. If you eat this bread which has come down from heaven, you will live
forever. I
am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this
bread will live for ever. And the bread that I will give is my flesh, for the
life of the world".

May his prayers in Heaven help us in this life. The snake tempted them to disobey God.
When God asked them why they disobeyed him,

"You are the enemy of the human race.
Someday a member of the human race will defeat you."

So Judas went up to Jesus, said "Greetings, Master" and kissed

From Paul, apostle of Christ Jesus, to
Timothy, true child of mine in the faith. I wish you grace, mercy
and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Please stay at Ephesus and
insist that no one
teaches misleading doctrines or empty speculation about the Law of God.
As a penal code, the aim of the Law is to make
provision not for good people but for offenders: for murderers, for people
who are immoral with women or with boys or with men, for liars and for
perjurers - and for everything else that is contrary to sound teaching
Jesus, please help law offenders not to offend

Matthew
26.30-46: After their last meal, Jesus said to his
apostles
"Tonight all of you will desert me". Peter said "I will never desert you".
Jesus replied "Tonight before the rooster crows,
you will deny me three times". They came to a place with olive
trees called Gethsemane.
Jesus took Peter, James and John to a part of that area
and asked them to pray with him. Jesus was overcome with sadness
and fear.
He said to them "Sadness is filling my heart, as if my heart is
dying.
Please support me as I pray."
Then he fell on his face and
prayed for about an hour:
"Father, don't let this suffering continue. But your will be
done". He stood up and found that the
apostles were asleep.
He said to them "Couldn't you stay awake one hour to support
me?" Three times he prayed the same way.
Three times the apostles went to sleep. Then he said "Get
ready. The one who is betraying me is coming".
Jesus, please help me give more
time to prayer

A few days before the Passover
festival,
the religious leaders kept looking for a way to arrest Jesus and have him

told his disciples
"In a few days I will be crucified". During these days Jesus had a
meal at the home of Simon the leper.
At the meal, a woman put expensive burial oil on Jesus' head.
The woman understood that Jesus was soon to die. One of Jesus' 12 apostles, Judas
Iscariot, went to the religious leaders
and offered to help them arrest Jesus at a convenient time.
The leaders paid Judas 30 pieces of silver.
Judas looked for an opportunity to arrange the arrest.
