Genesis
16: Abraham and his wife
Sarah had been married many years
but they did not have any children.
So Sarah said to Abraham,
"Take my slave Hagar and have children by
her."
When Hagar bore a son, Sarah was jealous and treated Hagar badly.
Hagar ran away from home, but God said to her
"Go back to your mistress and submit to her; I will bless all your
descendants."
Dear God, please help childless
couples to have a baby
My
recording of this reading

Psalm 1: Happy the person who
avoids evil and evil entertainment.
Happy the person who reads and meditates on God's words. Such a
person is like a tree planted beside a river, getting plenty of
nourishment, bearing plenty of fruit. Such a
person is on the Way of Life.
People who do evil are on the Way of Death.
Dear
Lord, please help me do good and avoid evil

Timothy 5.19-23: Never accept an accusation brought against a
church elder unless it is supported by two or three witnesses. If an elder
is at fault, reprimand him publicly as a warning to others. Be fair to everyone and never be influenced by
favoritism. As regards your frequent illnesses, I suggest
you give up drinking only water, and have a little wine for the sake of
your digestion

Matthew
27.57-66:
Joseph from Arimathaea was a rich man who had
become a disciple of Jesus. After Jesus died on Friday, he asked Governor Pilate for
Jesus' body. Joseph wrapped the body in a clean
burial cloth and put it in his own new tomb in a rock cave. He then put a
large stone at the cave's entrance. The next day, Saturday,
the religious
leaders went to Pilate and said
"This imposter said he would rise from the dead after 3
days.
Therefore you should secure the tomb in case his disciples steal the body
and say he has risen from the dead".
Pilate gave them a guard and told them to secure the tomb.
The guards took up their position at the tomb
and seals were put on the entrance stone.
Jesus in the tomb, please give
eternal life to all who have died

A notorious South African woman is responsible for arranging 9
African women to take drugs to HK ....all 9 are now in prison, facing
around 10 years each. I have many times given the notorious woman's details to
the authorities in South Africa and other places ... but no one has taken action
against her because her Nigerian BF/husband has links to the authorities. SO, I
have put the woman's profile on www in the hope that this might encourage the
authorities to arrest her. And after a few weeks I find that a Google search of
her name brings up her file - here

Genesis
14-15: In the land of Canaan
there were many kings.
Sometimes they went to war against each other.
Melchizedek, king of Salem, was also a priest of God.
Abraham gave Melchizedek 10% of all his possessions.
Melchizedek gave Abraham bread and wine.
Melchizedek asked God to give Abraham a special blessing.
God said to Abraham, "This land of Canaan is yours;
I give it to you and your descendants."
Dear God, please help all the kings and leaders in the world to be friends
My
recording of this reading

Psalms
149-150: Sing a new song to the Lord.
Let the praise of God be always on our lips. Praise God in his holy temple.
Praise him in the heavens. O praise him with sound of
trumpet.
Praise him with lute and harp.
Praise him with drums and dancing.
Praise him with strings and pipes. Let everything that lives and
breathes,
give praise to the Lord our Creator. Alleluia!
Lord, to you we say every day
"Allelu-ia" ("praise God")
Listen

1 Timothy 5.5-14: Do not speak harshly to
a man older than yourself, but advise him as you would your own father. Treat
younger men
as brothers.
Treat older women as you would your mother. Treat
younger women with
propriety, as if they were your sisters. Be considerate to widows. If a widow wishes to
be enrolled as a church worker, she must be at least 60 years old, the
wife of one husband. As regards young widows, it's best if
they re-marry
Jesus, help church workers to be
kind and caring

Matthew
27.45-54: Jesus was put on the cross about
9am.
From about noon until 3pm there was darkness over all the land. About 3pm Jesus cried out the words of
Psalm 22:
"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" A little while later he again
cried out in a loud voice.
Then he died. At that moment the holy curtain
in the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and there was a violent
earthquake. The Roman soldiers were
terrified.
Their leader called out "Truly this was a son of God".
Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for the
salvation of the world

Proverbs
9.1-6: Wisdom has
built herself a house, she has erected 7 pillars. She has sent out her
maidservants to proclaim from the city's heights: "Come
and eat my bread, drink the wine I have prepared. Leave your foolishness
and you will live. Come and walk in the way of wisdom."
Lord, please help us accept your invitation to grow in wisdom
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
34: I will bless the Lord at all
times, his praise always on my lips. In the Lord my soul shall make its boast,
the humble shall hear and be glad. Glorify the Lord with me, together let us
praise his name. I sought the Lord and he answered me. From all my terrors he
set me free. The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who revere the Lord,
to rescue them. Taste and see that the
Lord is good. They are happy who seek refuge in him. The Lord is close to
the broken-hearted. Those whose spirits are crushed he will save.
Lord, by our Bible reading and prayer, may we taste and see your goodness each
day
Listen

Ephesians
5.10-20: Try
to discover what the Lord wants of you. Have nothing to do with the futile works
of darkness. Wake up from your sleep, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine
on you. Be very careful about the sort of life you live. Follow your enlightened
mind, not your unruly passions. Avoid drunkenness. Instead, be filled with the
Spirit. Sing prayer songs when you are together, and when you're by yourself,
keep on singing to the Lord in your heart, always
giving thanks to God
Jesus, make my heart sing right through the day
Listen

John
6.52-58: The people said
among themselves "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
Jesus replied "If you refuse to eat my flesh , and drink my blood, you will
not have life in you. Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has
eternal life. For my flesh is real food,
and my blood is real drink. Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood
lives in me, and I live in them. As I, who am sent by the living Father, myself
draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me will draw life from me. This is
the bread come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for
ever"
Jesus, thank you for the gift of your Body and Blood in Holy Communion
Listen

Reflection on the above readings: God the Son became a FOOD baby, born in Bethlehem ("House of Bread"), placed in a manger (a feeding box for cattle). Just before the Passover (where a lamb was FOOD) he gave the teaching of John chapter 6 about his Body and Blood being our spiritual FOOD. He died at Passover itself (as the LAMB of God). Each Mass, each Communion is a celebration of Christmas and Easter! Each Mass, each Communion, we receive the FOOD Baby of Christmas, the Paschal LAMB of Easter. Every Sunday/Eucharist we can say: Happy Christmas & Happy Easter!

Genesis
12-13: God said to a man in
the land of Haran named Abraham,
"Leave your own country and go to a new land I will give you.
I will make you into a great nation."
So Abraham and his family left the land of Haran
and moved to the land of Canaan.
God said to Abraham,
"I will make your descendants as many
as the number of dust particles on the ground .... an uncountable
number."
Even though Abraham and his wife Sarah were old and had no children,
Abraham believed God's promise to give them many descendants.
Dear God, please help me to

Psalm
148: Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights. Praise him all his angels,
praise him all his spirits. Praise
him, sun and moon,
praise him, shining stars. Let them praise the name of the Lord.
His word gave life to all of them. Praise the Lord from the earth,
sea creatures and all oceans. Praise him fire and hail, snow and mist,
stormy winds that obey his word. Praise him all mountains and hills,
all fruit trees and cedars.
Praise him all animals, wild and tame,
reptiles and birds in the air. Praise him all earth's kings and peoples,
earth's princes and rulers. Praise him young men and maidens,
old people together with children. Let them praise the name of the Lord.
He is the praise of all who love him.

Timothy 4.12-16: Do not let people disregard you because you
are young.
Be an example to all the believers in the way you speak and act. You have in you a spiritual gift which was
given you when the church elders prayed over you with the laying on
of hands.
Do not let this gift go unused. Take great care about what you do and what you
teach.
In this way you will save both yourself and those who listen to you
Jesus, help me be a good example to

Matthew
27.32-44: As Jesus was taken to the place of
crucifixion,
a man name Simon, from Cyrene,
was made to carry Jesus' cross. Jesus was then nailed to the
cross and hung on the cross.
Two robbers were crucified with him,
one on his right and one on his left.
Above Jesus' head was a sign with the charge against him:
"This is Jesus, the King of the Jews". People passing by that place made
fun of Jesus.
So did the religious leaders. They mocked and taunted him.
Jesus on the Cross, thank you for suffering so much for the salvation of the world

Genesis 9-11: Noah's descendants

They started speaking new languages.
They discovered how to make bricks.
In one place, Babel, they tried to build a very high tower.

Psalm
147: Praise the Lord for he is good.
Sing to our God for he is loving. To him our praise is due. The Lord builds up Jerusalem
and brings back Israel's exiles. He heals the broken-hearted
and binds up all their wounds. The Lord raises the lowly
and humbles the wicked. He fixes the number of the stars.
He calls each one by name. Our Lord is great and almighty.
His wisdom can never be measured. He covers the heavens with clouds.
He prepares rain for the earth, making mountains sprout with grass
and with plants to serve our needs. His delight is not in horses
nor his pleasure in warriors' strength. The Lord delights in those who love and honor
him,
in those who wait for his love.
It is right and fitting to
praise and love you, Lord our Creator

Matthew
27.27-31: After the Roman soldiers scourged Jesus, they

saying "Hail, king of the Jews".
They spat on him.
They took the reed and hit him with it. When they had finished making fun of him,
they dressed him in his own clothes and led him away to crucify him.
Jesus, please don't let me hurt other people by

Corinthians 15: Christ
has been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep.
Death came through one man and in the same way the resurrection of the dead has
come through one man. Just
as all people die in Adam, so all people will be brought to life in Christ; but
all of them in their proper order: Christ as the first-fruits and then, after
the coming of Christ, those who belong to him. After that will come the end,
when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, having done away with every
sovereignty, authority and power. For he must be king until he has put all his
enemies under his feet and the last of the enemies to be destroyed is death, for
everything is to be put under his feet.

Luke
1: Mary set out and went as quickly as she could
to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah's house and
greeted Elizabeth. Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child
leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a
loud cry and said, "Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is
the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother
of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb
leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by
the Lord would be fulfilled." And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the
greatness of the Lord, and my spirit exults in God my saviour; because he has
looked upon his lowly handmaid. Yes,
from this day forward all generations will call me blessed, for the Almighty
has done great things for me"

Timothy 4.1-7: Don't be surprised if some people come up with
strange ideas about how to live life. Satan and his friends are always
trying to sow lies and deception in the Lord's field of truth. Have nothing to do with strange ideas like
"marriage is forbidden" or "you are not allowed to eat

the crowd to demand
the execution of Jesus. They called out to Pilate "Crucify him".
Pilate asked "Why? What has
he done wrong?"
The crowd shouted all the louder "Crucify him. Crucify him". Pilate then washed his hands in
front of the crowd and said
"I am innocent of this man's blood".
The crowd shouted "His blood be on us and on our children". Pilate then ordered Jesus to be
scourged and crucified.
