Joshua
4: After the Israelites
crossed the Jordan River,
Joshua selected 12 men, one from each tribe,
and told them to get 12 stones from the middle of the Jordan. The 12 stones
were set up at Gilgal, east of Jericho, as a reminder of how God had helped the Israelites
cross the river. When children in the
future asked "What do these stones mean?"
parents were to answer:
"The waters of the Jordan separated and stopped flowing
when the Lord's Sacred Chest entered the river.
These 12 stones are a permanent reminder of this." As soon as
the
Israelites had finished crossing the Jordan,
its waters immediately started flowing again.
Dear
Lord, please don't let me ever forget
the many times you have helped me cross "Jordan" rivers
My
recording of this reading

Psalms
20-21: May the Lord protect and help you,
may he give you your heart's desire
and fulfil every one of your plans. Some trust in chariots or horses,
but we trust in the Lord.
Lord, may our plans and hopes
be acceptable to you.
Please bless our plans
Listen

Acts 5.34-42: One religious leader at the meeting,
Gamaliel,
asked that the apostles be removed from the room. Then he spoke to the
other leaders: "Men of Israel, be careful how you deal
with these people. If this movement of theirs is of human origin, it will
die out of its own accord. But if it comes from God, you will not be able
to destroy it. You might even find yourselves fighting against God". His advice was accepted. The apostles were
warned, flogged and released. They left the meeting glad to have had the
honor of suffering humiliation for the sake of Jesus. They resumed their
daily preaching, in the Temple and in private homes
Jesus, thank you for times
of suffering for you
Luke
11.9-13:
Jesus said to his disciples "Ask, and it will
be given to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open.
If children ask their parents for something
good, their parents will always give it to them. Even more so will the heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him
Heavenly Father, please give me your Holy
Spirit!

Joshua
3: Instructed by the Lord,
Joshua told the people to go to the bank of the Jordan River.
He told the priests carrying the Sacred Chest
to stand in the river on the edge of the water.
As soon as the feet of the priests touched the water,
the river stopped flowing.
The people then went across the dry river bed towards Jericho.
Dear God,
please help me to cross rivers of difficulty, doubt, conflict etc
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
19: The heavens proclaim the glory of God,
the starry skies are the work of his hands. The stars can't speak, but they are
God's handwriting.
The sun is God's love shining on the whole world. The universe is a masterpiece,
and so is God's
law
which shines in our hearts. The precepts of the Lord
enlighten our lives
each day.
The law of the Lord gives joy and wisdom to our hearts. The decrees of the Lord are to be desired more
than gold,
they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. But often we are unaware of our
errors.
Lord, please protect us from making mistakes.
Lord, may the words of my mouth
and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you
Listen

Acts 5.21-33: When the leaders had their big meeting later
that same morning, they sent for the apostles to be brought from prison. The police went to the prison, then came back
and reported to the leaders "We found that the prison was properly
locked, and the guards were on duty. But when we unlocked the door, there
was no one inside". Then a man arrived at the meeting with the
news "At this very moment, the men you imprisoned are now in the
Temple preaching to the people". The police again arrested the apostles and
brought them to the meeting.
When the main religious leader reminded them of his previous warning not
to preach, Peter and the apostles replied "Obedience to God comes
before obedience to men. God raised Jesus up to be the Savior. We are
witnesses to this, we and the Holy Spirit whom God gives to those who obey
him". This made the leaders so angry that they
wanted to kill the apostles
Jesus, please help me put obedience to you
before all other obediences

Luke
11.1-4: Once when Jesus had finished praying in
private, one of his disciples asked him "Lord, teach us to
pray". Jesus replied "Pray like this:
Father,
may everyone love and honor you.
Your kingdom come.
Thank you for enough food for today.
Forgive us as we forgive others.
Save us in time of trial"
Jesus, please teach me how to pray

2.14-18: The

Luke
2.22-32: When
Jesus was 40 days old, his parents took him to the Temple in Jerusalem to
present him to the Lord, as the Law required. In Jerusalem there was an
old man named Simeon. The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that before he died,
he would see the Christ of the Lord. Prompted by the Spirit, he came to the
Temple, took Jesus in his arms and praised God, saying "Now, Master, you
can let your servant go in peace, for my eyes have seen the Savior. He is a
light to enlighten the pagans, and he is the glory of your people Israel".
Jesus, true Light of the world, we praise you

Joshua 2: Joshua sent two men as
spies to explore the Jericho area.
In Jericho they went to the house of Rahab the prostitute.
The king of Jericho was told about this and he sent men to capture the two Israelites.
But Rahab hid the men
and told the king that they had already gone.
Rahab said to the men in their hiding place on her roof:
"I know that the Lord has given you this land.
My people are afraid of you. We have heard how the
Lord dried up the sea for your crossing
out of Egypt. We have heard how you defeated the 2 kings Sihon and Og. Since I have shown you
kindness
I now ask you to show kindness to my family
and spare their lives when you attack this city."
The men agreed and told Rahab
to tie a scarlet cord to her window
so the Israelites would know her family were inside. Rahab helped the men go down from the
window by a rope.
The men stayed in the nearby hills for 3 days until it was safe to leave. The men returned to Joshua and told how the people of Jericho
were already trembling at the thought of an Israelite attack.
Lord,
please bless all women and girls caught up in prostitution

"Go and stand in the Temple, and tell the people all about this new

Joshua 1: God said to Joshua:
"I will be with you, as I was with Moses.
I will not leave you or abandon you. Be strong and stand
firm
and be careful to keep all the Law which my servant Moses laid on you.
Never swerve from this
to right or left,
and then you will be happy in all you do.
Have the book of this Law always on your lips.
Meditate on it day and night,
so that you may carefully keep
everything that is written in it. Be fearless, be
confident,
for wherever you go
I the Lord your God am with you."
Then Joshua said to the
people:
"Get ready, for in 3 days you will cross the Jordan River
and take possession of the land which God is giving to you."

My body shall rest in safety now and always. You will show me the path of life,

Acts
5.12-16: All the believers used to meet regularly in an

bringing their sick,
and all of the sick were healed

10.29-37: The religious leader then asked another
question: "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied "A man on a journey was
attacked by robbers. They beat him, took all he had, and left him
seriously injured. A priest came by and saw the man, but did not help
him. A temple worker also saw him, but did not help. But a lowly foreigner
who saw him was moved with pity. The foreigner bandaged his wounds, and used
his own donkey to take the man to an inn. He paid the innkeeper to look
after the man. Which of the three was a neighbor to the
injured man?" The leader replied "The one who
helped him". Jesus then said "Go, and do the same"

Deuteronomy 33-34:
Before Moses died, he

Moses then went up Mount Nebo, opposite Jericho,

Moses was buried in the land of Moab.
After the people mourned Moses for 30 days,

since Moses had laid his hands on him.
From that time there has never been a prophet like Moses,

Genesis
1-2: God
made the world. God made the sun, the moon and the
stars....the whole universe. God said "Let there be light" and
there was light. God made the earth with all its plants and trees and animals
and fish and birds. God made the first people.....the first man and first woman. God
made them in his own image and said to them "Be fruitful, multiply and fill
the earth." God saw all that he had made, and all of it was good, very good
Dear God, thank you for making such a beautiful world!

Psalm
8: How
great is your name, O Lord our God, through all the earth. When
I see the heavens, the work of your hands, the moon and stars which you have
arranged, then I stop and think: what are we insignificant humans that you
should care about us? Yet you have put us in charge of
the world. Everything is subject to our control.
How great is your name, O Lord our God, through all the earth

1.9-13: God

non-Jews are also on the stage, now that you have believed the truth of the Good
News. All of us have been stamped with the Holy Spirit. He's the composer whose

Matthew
6.25-34: Jesus said to the
crowds that life is about more than food and clothing. Pointing to some
birds flying around, Jesus said: Look at the birds. They don't sow or reap, yet
your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are more precious than the birds.
Pointing to flowers in the field Jesus said: How beautiful are the flowers. They
are more beautiful than King Solomon's clothing. If God cares so much about the
life of flowers won't he care even more about human life? So, don't spend your
day worrying about what you are going to eat and drink and wear. Put
God first in your life, God and a right way of life, then God will look after
your physical needs. Don't waste your energy worrying about tomorrow.
Live life one day at a time.
Heavenly Father, thank you for caring for the birds and flowers....and me!
