Hello from St Paul's Retreat Centre in Sheung Shui where I'm attending the annual retreat for O.M.I.s of the China Delegation. On the way here yesterday afternoon I went to nearby Lo Wu women's prison to hand in some items for about a dozen prisoners.

leaders had their big meeting later that same morning, they sent for the
apostles to be brought from prison. The police went to the prison, then came
back and reported to the leaders "We found that the prison was properly
locked, and the guards were on duty. But when we unlocked the door, there was no
one inside". Then a man arrived at the meeting with the news "At this
very moment, the men you imprisoned are now in the Temple preaching to the
people". The police again arrested the apostles and brought them to the
meeting. When the main religious leader reminded them of his previous warning
not to preach, Peter and the apostles replied "Obedience
to God comes before obedience to men. God raised Jesus up to be the
Savior. We are witnesses to this, we and the Holy Spirit whom God gives to those
who obey him". This made the leaders so angry that they wanted to kill the
apostles.
Jesus, please help me put obedience to you before all other obediences

21.1-14: Jesus also
appeared to the disciples at the Sea of Galilee, when Peter, John and 5 other
disciples were fishing. They had spent all night in their boat, but had caught
nothing. In the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, though the disciples did not
recognize him. He called out "Lower your net on the right side of the
boat". Immediately the net filled with fish. John realized that the man on
the shore was Jesus. John said to Peter "It
is the Lord", and they returned to the shore, which was only about
100 meters away. The net had 153 big fish, but did not break. Jesus had prepared
some bread. He also had some fish cooking on a charcoal fire. He said "Come
and have breakfast"
Jesus, Risen Lord, without you, no fish. With you, 153 fish. Please help me
be more aware of your presence in my life

Refusing to honor the Creator is why people's
behaviour went bad:
why women turned from natural intercourse to unnatural practices, and why
men gave up natural intercourse to be consumed with passion for each

Jesus Centre in Temple Street, a Caritas social worker made arrangements for
many of the group to have a free dental consultation ... just as she had
previously arranged medical check ups. Thank you Caritas and MercyHK team member
Agnes for all your work for the Nepal group!

priest named Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth who were really good people,
but they were childless.
Once when they went to the Temple in Jerusalem, Zechariah entered the
inner sanctuary to burn incense, while all the people prayed outside. An
angel appeared and said "Zechariah, your prayer has been heard. Your
wife will have a son and you must name him John.
He will prepare the way of the Lord". Not
long after this, Elizabeth conceived, and for 5 months she kept to
herself, thanking God for taking away her humiliation at not being able to
have a baby

Today I'm due to be at a lower court for a
"mention" hearing of one of my bail cases. Such hearings usually take
only a couple of minutes but only happen after a long list of other cases are
heard first .... so ...I'll be taking my laptop to do a bit of work during the
waiting time....only problem being: my experience is that as sure as I take my
laptop, the case will be heard first, no need to wait!
