will make you the light of the nations, so that my salvation will reach to the
ends of the earth'. The Lord also says to his people: "Does a woman forget

Lord, please help me understand how you loved me even before I was born.

Because Jesus was conceived in the 6th month of Elizabeth's pregnancy .... so John was born 6 months (approximately) before Jesus ... and 6 months before Dec 25 is June 24. Let's think of the baby Baptist if we happen to see any babies today!

But if salt loses its taste, it's no use for anything. You are the light of

I have come to raise it to a higher level of
goodness. Your goodness must not
just be something superficial.
Your goodness must be something from the heart.
You must avoid anger
and insult, just like you avoid murder.
If you have offended someone, say "Sorry". You must avoid lustful
looks and thoughts.
Looking at someone lustfully is immorality of the heart. Love and pray for
people who are unkind to you.
This is the way to practise the highest level of goodness.

40 years ago today in 1985 I paid my first visit to the Trappist Monastery on Lantau Island. I guessed correctly that they would be having Benediction for the Feast of Corpus Christi
Today's Gospel, below, suggests this special prayer for the starving people of Gaza:
HEAVENLY
FATHER, YOUR DEAR SON ONCE MULTIPLIED LOAVES AND FISH, AND HELPED HIS APOSTLES
CATCH BIG QUANTITIES OF FISH ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION ....SO ...HE HAS A LOT OF
FISH PRODUCTION EXPERIENCE! FATHER, SINCE THE THE PEOPLE OF GAZA ARE
STARVING AND EVEN BEING KILLED AS THEY QUEUE FOR FOOD ... PLEASE ARRANGE FOR
MANY, MANY FISH TO LEAVE THE SEA ON THE COAST OF GAZA AND BEACH THEMSELVES

Corinthians 11.20-26: Concerning
the Lord's Supper, this is what I received from the Lord and then taught you: On

cup is the new covenant in my blood. Each time you drink this cup, drink
it in memory of me". Until the Lord comes, therefore, each time you eat

Jesus had been healing and teaching all afternoon, his disciples said to him
"It's getting late and the people need to go and eat". Jesus answered

were about 20,000 of them. Then he blessed the loaves and fish. He handed
the loaves and fish to his disciples. His disciples gave them to the crowd.
Everyone had plenty to eat. They even had 12 baskets of leftovers.

airport for bringing drugs to HK. I hope the authorities can do something about

Tobit
12: When Tobit's banquet was finished,
Tobit wanted to thank Raphael for all his help. Only then did Raphael tell Tobit

that he was an angel sent by God to help them. "I am Raphael, one of the 7

to enter the presence of the glory of the Lord. Never tire of giving God thanks.
And never tire of helping the poor."
Raphael farewelled them, rose in the air, and left them.

Fri June 20
Early last night as I returned from the local post office after collecting mail
from our mail box, I noticed a new mini-store in Temple Street ... selling fruit
juices and packaged fruit. I had never seen the store before so I guessed
it had recently opened ... and I decided to give them a bit of business. I
bought some packaged fruit and asked a lady running the store when it had
opened. She replied "Only a few minutes ago, and you are my very first
customer"!

Every part is important and needed for the body to be healthy. The church is like a
body. We are the body's
members. Some of us are apostles, some prophets, some teachers etc. The members of the church
must care about
every member of the church. Everyone is important. The spiritual health of
each member affects the health of the whole body

6.12-16: Jesus went to the hills to pray. He spent a
whole night praying.
In the morning he called all his disciples together. He chose 12 of them
and called them "apostles": Peter and his brother Andrew, James, John,
Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon, Judas
son of James - and Judas Iscariot who became a traitor. Jesus and the 12 came down from the hill to a
place of level ground.
Gathered there were his many disciples and a large crowd of people from
all over the country who had come to hear him and to be healed of
diseases. People in the crowd tried to touch Jesus
because power came out of him that cured everyone

Luke 6.6-11: On another Sabbath Jesus visited a prayer hall.
A man with a withered hand was in the prayer hall. Some religious leaders were watching to see if
Jesus would heal the man (since no work was allowed on the Sabbath, and
they regarded healing as work). Jesus knew what they were thinking, so
he said to the man with the withered hand "Stand up! Come out into
the middle of the hall".
He came out and stood there. Jesus then asked the leaders
"Is it against the law on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil; to
save life or to destroy it?" Then he said to the man with the withered hand
"Stretch out your hand". He stretched it out. It was healed.
The leaders were very angry. They
left the prayer hall
and began plotting how to get rid of Jesus
Jesus, please stop bad religious leaders from
misleading people

Reflection: Jesus did not say to himself "those guys will be upset if I do a healing, so I'll wait till they go away". Rather he used the occasion to point out how flawed was their understanding of the Law

Tobit 8: Before Tobias went to bed with Sarah,
he remembered what Raphael had said. Tobias put some of the fish's heart and liver
on burning incense. The smell of the fish made Asmodeus flee.
Tobias with Sarah then prayed to the Lord:
"You are blessed O God of our fathers.
Let the heavens and all creatures bless you,
you who created Adam and Eve. I now take Sarah as my wife
not for any lustful reason, but out of true love. Please have pity on us
and bring us to old age together." Then they went to bed. Meanwhile
Raguel, who feared Tobias would die,
prepared a secret grave. But when Raguel sent a maid to the room of
Tobias and Sarah
the maid found they were alive and sleeping peacefully. Then Raguel too praised God:
"Thank you, my God, for making me happy.
What I feared, has not happened." The next day Raguel prepared the customary 14
day wedding feast.
