2 Kings
2-3: The Lord revealed to Elisha and other
prophets
that Elijah would be taken up to heaven in a whirlwind.
Elisha said to Elijah
"Let me inherit a double share of your spirit."
Then a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire,
and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
The spirit of Elijah then came to rest on Elisha
and he began to do miracles by the power of the Lord.
Holy Spirit of God, please
increase your influence in my life
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
23: The Lord is my
shepherd, there is nothing I
shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me, to revive my drooping spirit. He guides me along the right path. He is true
to his name.
If I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me
comfort. You have prepared a banquet for me in the
sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil. My cup is overflowing. Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me
all the days of my life.
In the Lord's own house shall I dwell for ever
and ever.
Thank you, Lord, for being my
good shepherd

Colossians
2.9-18:
In Christ's body lives the fullness of
divinity.
In him, you too find fulfillment. In baptism, you were buried with him and then
raised to new life.
Our real life is life with and in Christ. Be careful of people who are always going on
about some vision they have had, giving such visions more importance than
Christ himself
Jesus, may my focus always be on you
Listen
Matthew
15.1-20:
Some religious leaders asked Jesus "Why
do your disciples ignore many external practices of our religion?" Jesus answered, with the words of the prophet
Isaiah:
"This people honors me with external lip-service,
while their hearts are far from me." Jesus also said
"It's not certain foods or lack of washing that makes a person
unclean.
It's evil in the heart that makes a person unclean. Evil intentions like murder, adultery,
fornication, theft, perjury, slander. These are the things that make a
person unclean."
Jesus, please clean my
heart

2 Kings
1:
Ahaziah, king of Israel, was seriously ill
after a fall.
He tried to send messengers to the temple of a false god
to ask about his future. But the Lord sent Elijah the prophet to
intercept the messengers
and tell them that the king would die. The king sent 50 soldiers to arrest Elijah
but as they approached Elijah, fire from heaven destroyed them. The king sent another 50 soldiers.
They too were destroyed by fire from heaven. A third group of 50 was sent.
They begged
Elijah to spare them.
The Lord told Elijah to go with them to the king. Elijah then told the king to his face that he
would soon die
because he had tried to ask a false god about his future.
Not long after this, Ahaziah died.
Dear Lord, please don't let us
ever get involved
with false religion
My
recording of this reading

Psalm
22: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
I call to you for help, but day and night you give no reply. I am a worm and not a man.
Everyone who sees me makes fun of me. They taunt me: "He trusted in the
Lord, why doesn't the Lord help him?" Like water I am poured out, my bones no longer
connected.
My throat is parched, my tongue sticks to my jaws. Many evil people attack me.
They make holes in my hands and my feet.
They await my death. They divide my clothing among them,
they throw a dice for my robe. Yet I know Lord, that you are good and
holy.
I know how you heard the cries of our ancestors and you helped them. It was you who took me from the womb
and entrusted me to my mother's breast.
To you I was committed from my birth,
from my mother's womb you have been my God. Lord, I trust in you even now.
I trust you will not scorn my prayer. Even now I praise you as my Creator.
May all the nations know and worship you.
Lord, please help people who
are in big trouble right now,
especially people whose lives are in danger

Psalm
1: Happy
the person who avoids evil and evil entertainment. Happy the person who reads
and meditates on God's words. Such a person is like a tree planted beside a
river, getting plenty of nourishment, bearing plenty of fruit. Such a person is
on the Way

Way of Death.

you who are poor: yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are
you who are hungry: you shall be satisfied. Blessed are
you who weep now: you shall be happy. Blessed are
you when people hate you because of me: your reward will be great in heaven. But alas for
you who are rich: your consolation is only in this world. Alas for
you who have plenty to eat: you shall go hungry. Alas for
you who laugh now: you shall mourn and weep".

Matthew
14.22-33: After feeding the crowd with 5 loaves and 2
fish,
Jesus told his disciples to go by boat across the nearby lake.
Jesus stayed to send the crowds away.
Then he went up into the hills to pray. When darkness came, the boat was far from land,
but it was battling large waves caused by a strong head-wind. Jesus then walked on the water towards the
boat.
He called out to his disciples "Courage. It is I. Don't be
afraid." Peter answered "Lord, if it is you, tell
me to walk on the water to you." Jesus said "Come". Peter then started walking on the water,
but he became afraid and began to sink.
"Lord, save me" he called out.
Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to keep walking on the water.
"Man of little faith, why did you doubt?" asked Jesus.
As they got into the boat, the wind stopped. The men in the boat bowed to Jesus and said
"You really are the Son of God".
Jesus, please help me not to
lose faith in you

Yesterday with Rocky and social worker Ricky from Gingko

the funeral service at Kwai Fong crematorium of one of our Yau Ma Tei homeless
guests who passed away a few weeks ago .... a 71 year old man who a long time
ago was a drug addict, then spent many years at a Christian drug treatment
centre (first as a patient then as a volunteer) and who for the past 6 months
has been a volunteer helping both Gingko and MerchHK. A real gentleman
....always helpful and kind and patient, never complaining, never talking about
his own health situation, wanting to stay active until the end. May his prayers
in Heaven help us to imitate his beautiful spirit!
Yesterday at Kwai Fong I saw a line of around 500

Revelation
12.1-6: A
great sign appeared in heaven: a
woman, dressed in the sun, standing on the moon, crowned with 12 stars.
She was giving birth to a child, and she cried out in the pain of childbirth.
Then a second sign appeared: a huge red dragon, which wanted to eat the child.
The woman gave birth to a son, the ruler of all nations. The son was taken
straight up to heaven, to God on his throne. The woman escaped to safety in the
desert, to a place prepared for her by God.

John
2.1-11: Jesus,
his mother and his disciples were guests at a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The
wine ran out, so Jesus' mother said to him "They
have no wine". Jesus replied "Woman, my time for doing special
things has not yet come". His
mother said to the servants "Do whatever he tells you". There
were 6 big containers there, used for holding water. Each could hold about 35
liters. Jesus said to the servants "Fill the containers with water"
and they filled them up. Jesus then said "take some out and give it to the
man in charge of the banquet". When the man tasted the water, it had
turned to wine. The man called the bridegroom and said "You have kept the
best wine until now". This was the first public miracle done by Jesus
Jesus, help me to do whatever you tell me to do

1 Kings 19:
Elijah once spent a night in a cave.
The Lord then told him to stand at the mouth of the cave. Then there was a mighty wind
that
shattered trees and rocks.
But the Lord was not in the wind. Then there was an
earthquake.
But the Lord was not in the earthquake. Then there was a gentle breeze.

even joyfully,
carry your cross each day. Keep on thanking the Father who has rescued us
from the power of darkness, and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he

Matthew
14.1-12:
Not long after Jesus began traveling and teaching,
King Herod arrested John the Baptist and put him in prison. This was because John had told Herod he was breaking the Law
by living with Herodias, his brother's wife. During a birthday party for Herod,
the daughter of Herodias danced. Her dancing so pleased Herod
that he said he would give her anything she wanted. Herodias told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist on a dish.
Herod then had John beheaded. John's disciples came and buried the body.
Jesus, please give the world
good leaders, and protect people from bad leaders like Herod
