This
afternoon I'm
due to leave HK for a working holiday in Tanzania and
Malawi. Due back HK January 29
Hoping to meet relatives of some Tanzanian inmates in HK prisons, do
some work for the "don't take drugs to HK" campaign, spend
time with HK volunteers at an AIDS centre in Malawi ....and learn a
little Swahili. |

During
the coming weeks I will try to post a report and some photos each
day.
Will
also try to check email each morning and night as usual .... but email
replies might be slow if I'm travelling.

Wisdom
3-5:
When good people die, they are in God's
hands.
Even if they died a tragic death, they are at peace.
A long life is not what makes a person
honorable.
Honor is due to anyone of any age who is wise and understanding.
On the other hand, arrogance and misuse of
wealth
bring dishonor, in this life and in the next.
Our life is short. We must live it wisely and
well.
Dear Lord, please help me to
live my life wisely and not foolishly

Psalm
126:
When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage,
it seemed like a dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter,
on our lips there were songs.
What marvels the Lord worked for us.
Indeed we were glad.
Those who are sowing in tears
will sing when they reap.
They go out, full of tears, carrying seed for
the sowing.
They come back, full of song, carrying their sheaves.
Dear God, please bless all
people who are sorrowful as they work

Corinthians 13.1-13:

Simeon. The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that before he died, he

to the Temple, took Jesus in his arms and praised God, saying
"Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace, for my eyes have
seen the Savior. He is a light to enlighten the pagans, and he is the
glory of your people Israel"

HOW
TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD
George
Phillips, an elderly man from Walled Lake, Michigan, was going up to
bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden
shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the
back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in
the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" He
said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed
and stealing from me. Then
the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock
your doors and an officer will be along when one is available"
George said, "Okay." He
hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were
people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry
about them now because I just shot and killed them both; the dogs are
eating them right now," and he hung up.
Within
five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire
Trucks, a Paramedic and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips'
residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that
you'd shot them!"
George said,
"I
thought you said there was nobody available!"
