Sirach
35-37
Be generous as the Lord has been generous to
you.
Be cheerful when you make a gift to the Lord.
The humble person's prayer pierces the clouds,
so love the Lord with a humble heart.
If a property has no fence, it will be
plundered.
If a man has no wife, he is like a boat without an anchor.
Be careful when you consult other people.
After all consultation, follow the advice of your own heart.
Lord, please give me a cheerful
and humble heart

146
My soul, give
praise to the Lord.
I will praise the Lord all my days.
Put no trust in
princes,
in mortal men in whom there is no help.
Take their breath, they
return to clay
and their plans that day come to nothing.
They are happy who are
helped by Jacob's God,
whose hope is in the Lord our God, who alone made heaven
and earth,
the seas and all they contain.
It is he who gives
bread to the hungry,
the Lord, who sets prisoners free.
It is the Lord who
gives sight to the blind,
who raises up those who are bowed down.
It is the Lord who
protects the stranger
and upholds the widow and orphan.
It is the Lord who
loves the just,
but thwarts the path of the wicked.
The Lord will reign for
ever,
Zion's God, from age to age.

Galatians 2.1-9
14 years after that first visit, I again went
to Jerusalem,
with Barnabas and Titus
I explained to the Christian leaders how I had
been proclaiming the Good News to non-Jews
James, Peter and John shook hands with us as a
sign of partnership.
We were to preach to the non-Jews, and they to the Jews
Jesus, please help all Christians to avoid disunity

Luke
6.12-16
Jesus went to the hills to pray. He spent a
whole night praying.
In the morning he called all his disciples together. He chose 12 of them
and called them "apostles":
Peter and his brother Andrew, James, John,
Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon, Judas
son of James - and Judas Iscariot who became a traitor
Jesus and the 12 came down from the hill to a
place of level ground.
Gathered there were his many disciples and a large crowd of people from
all over the country who had come to hear him and to be healed of
diseases
People in the crowd tried to touch Jesus
because power came out of him that cured everyone
Jesus, please bless modern day apostles who
pray for the sick to be healed
