Last night at 6.10pm HK time, 21 year old former inmate So Ming Gwan went home to Heaven, after a long battle with cancer. I had visited him almost every day over the past two weeks, sometimes twice daily. Yesterday I visited him in the morning, and then in the afternoon, after my time at Lai Chi Kok Detention Centre, I visited him again, and was with him with he passed away.
Many thanks to all who prayed for him. Our prayers have not been in vain. Somehow or other the Good Lord will use or has used our prayers. Jesus, may A-Gwan's prayers in Heaven help us on this side of the veil. Please give strength and courage to his family.

Daniel 8-12

Daniel received many visions from God, usually after a special time of prayer and fasting.

Daniel was given glimpses of the future, the rise and fall of nations.

He also was given to understand what happens after this life:

"The dead will rise from the grave,
some to everlasting life, some to everlasting shame.

Those who have instructed others in virtue, will shine like stars for all eternity."

Lord, please help everyone get to Heaven

Psalm 104 (a)

Bless the Lord, my soul!
Lord God, how great you are.

You make the clouds your chariot.
You walk on the wings of the wind.

You make springs gush forth in the valleys. They give drink to all the animals of the field.

You make grass grow for the cattle, and plants to provide food for people.

You give us wine to cheer our hearts, and oil to make our faces shine.

You made the moon to mark the months. The sun knows the time for its setting.

Recording

Psalm 104 (b)

How many are your works, O Lord. In wisdom you have made them all.

The earth is full of your riches,
and the sea is swarming with life.

All things, great and small, look to you for food. You open your hand, they have their fill.

You send forth your spirit, and life is created. You renew the face of the earth.

I will sing to the Lord all my life.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him.

Bless the Lord, my soul!

Recording

John 4.34-36

Jesus said to his disciples "My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to complete his work

Look around, look at the fields. They are ready for harvest"

Jesus, please encourage more people to be Gospel workers, harvesting souls for eternal life

Daniel 7

Once when Daniel was asleep, he had a vision of heaven:

"Thrones were put in place, and one of great age took his seat. His robe was white as snow, his hair as pure as wool.

A thousand thousand waited on him, ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.

Then coming on the clouds of heaven was one like a son of man.

On him was conferred  glory and kingship, and people of all nations became his servants.

His kingship is eternal. His empire will never be destroyed."

Jesus, please help me understand that you are the "Son of Man"
whose kingship is eternal

Psalm 103

My soul, give thanks to the Lord.
All my being, bless his holy name.
My soul, give thanks to the Lord
and never forget all his blessings.

It is he who forgives all your guilt,
who heals every one of your ills. It is he who fills your life with good things, renewing your youth like an eagle's life.

The Lord is compassion and love,
slow to anger and rich in mercy.

As the heavens are high above the earth, so strong is his love for those who love him. As far as the East is from the West, so far does he remove our sins.

As a father has compassion on his sons, the Lord has pity on all who love and honor him.

Give thanks to the Lord, all his angels, who heed the voice of his word. Give thanks to the Lord, everyone and everything. My soul, give thanks to the Lord!

Thank you, Lord, for your love and compassion

How long you will keep on chasing false goals?

Luke 24.36-49 (a)

The disciples were still talking about what had happened when suddenly Jesus himself stood among them. At first they were terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost

But he said "Look at my hands and feet. Yes, it is I indeed. Touch me and see for yourselves. A ghost has no flesh and bones as you can see I have"

Their fear turned to joy but they still couldn't believe what they were seeing. So he asked them for something to eat, and they gave him some grilled fish which he ate in front of them

Daniel 4-6

Some of the king's officials were jealous of Daniel, so they had him arrested on a false charge and condemned to death.

One evening, Daniel was put into a cave of lions. The mouth of the cave was sealed with a great stone.

In the cave Daniel prayed to God for help, and God protected Daniel.

The next morning the stone was removed. Daniel walked out unharmed.

The king then ordered Daniel's accusers to be put into the cave.
The lions immediately ate them.

Daniel 2-3

The king of Babylon had a dream
which none of his wise men could interpret.

God enabled Daniel to understand the dream. The king then promoted Daniel and his friends to important jobs.

Some time after this, the king built a golden statue, and everyone was commanded to adore it.

The Jewish exiles, including Daniel and his friends, refused to adore the statue.

Daniel and his friends were condemned to be burnt to death
in a big furnace.

But God protected the four young  men, and they walked around unhurt in the flames.

They praised God for his wonderful protection, and called on all creatures to adore the one true God.

When the king saw this miracle take place, he cancelled the law for Jews to be killed.

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.  Let everyone praise the Lord for his love is everlasting

Daniel 1

There were many Israelite exiles in Babylon. The king of Babylon wanted some of them to work in his palace.

The king told his officials to select 4 young men and train them in local customs and culture.

The 4 selected were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
God blessed these 4 with great wisdom. God also blessed Daniel with the gift of understanding dreams.

When the 4 began work for the king, they were much wiser than all the local officials.

Lord, please give us the gift of wisdom, as you gave it to Daniel and his friends

His mother said to the servants "Do whatever he tells you"

There were 6 big containers there, used for holding water. Each could hold about 35 liters. Jesus said to the servants "Fill the containers with water" and they filled them up

Jesus then said "take some out and give it to the man in charge of the banquet".  When the man tasted the water, it had turned to wine

The man called the bridegroom and said "You have kept the best wine until now"

This was the first public miracle done by Jesus

Jesus,  help me to do whatever you tell me to do

This website's March statistics.
God bless the kind readers who check this site each day!

On my daily prison visits over the past two weeks I've been showing inmates this photo (enlarged and laminated) of the pope washing inmates' feet. But yesterday in one section of a detention centre for drug addicts, I had to smile as I offered my photo to a group of about 6 young guys gathered around a small table with their eyes fixed on another photo - of a young lady missing most of her clothes. The men kindly looked at the pope, but only briefly (.. excuse the pun ...)

Ezekiel 35-48

Through Ezekiel, God kept calling on the people to turn from their sins and remember their Creator.

God said he would bring back Israel's exiles to their homeland.
He would give them a new start in life, like a skeleton coming back to life.

God said the people would re-build the Temple in Jerusalem,
and religious practice would once again flourish.

The people would once again remember God. The people would once again be blessed by the Lord.

Lord, please help nations which have forgotten you, to come back to you

Psalm 99

The Lord is king.  He is great in Sion. His power is seen throughout the world.

Among his priests were Aaron, Moses and Samuel. They prayed to the Lord and he answered their call.

Let peoples everywhere praise his name. He is holy, full of power.

Lord, may all peoples know and love you

John 1.35-51

John the Baptist told his disciples Andrew and John that Jesus was the Chosen One of God.  Andrew and John then followed Jesus

Andrew took his brother Simon to Jesus. Jesus changed Simon's name to Peter, and Peter followed Jesus

Jesus met  Philip and said to him "Follow me".  Philip called one more man, Nathanael (Bartholomew) and said to him "we have found the one Moses and the prophets wrote about. He is Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth"

Jesus, please help me introduce more people to know and love you
