blessing of this Africa trip that also happened last
year: members of families who haven't seen each other
for a long time ....maybe even not on the best of terms
....are coming together for a meeting with the HK

Let us also mention the system of governance of the
oceans.
International
and regional conventions do exist, but fragmentation and the
lack of strict mechanisms of regulation, control and
penalization end up undermining these efforts.
The
growing problem of marine waste and the protection of the open
seas represent particular challenges. What is needed, in effect,
is an agreement on systems of governance for the whole range of
so-called “global commons”. |
Hong
Kong's well-planned New Towns could well be a model for Africa
and other parts of the world where huge cities are .... a mess.
HK's towns have schools, shopping centres, transport,
clinics/hospitals, housing, recreation areas etc all in one
location. If the same could be done for Africa ....adding
factories to each location ....what a recipe for healthier and
safer living. |

Jonathan
again tried to help David make peace with Saul. But Saul was
full of anger and just wanted to kill David.
David
then became a nomad, roaming from place to place,
continually pursued by Saul's soldiers.
David
once had a chance to kill Saul
but David refused to kill him.
David
said: "Saul is the anointed one of the Lord. It is wrong
for me to hurt him."
Even
though Saul hated and hunted David, David respected and
protected Saul.
Dear God, when other
people treat me unkindly,
please help me to be kind to them, as David was kind to Saul

A prayer hall official came to Jesus and
urgently asked him to go to his house, where his 12 year old daughter was
dying
As Jesus and his friends were following the official to his home,
a woman who had a hemorrhage for 12 years came up behind Jesus and touched
his clothing. Her bleeding stopped at that moment
Jesus knew what had happened and said to her
"My daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace"
Before esus arrived at the official's house, a messenger arrived
and said to the official " Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the
Master any more"
Jesus heard these words and said to the
official "Do not be afraid. Have faith, and she will be ok"
At the house Jesus allowed only Peter, James,
John and the girl's parents to go with him inside
To the mourners Jesus said "Stop crying.
She is not dead, but asleep". They laughed at him, since they
knew she was dead
Jesus took the little girl by the hand and called to her "Child, get
up". Her spirit returned and she got up at once
Jesus, please increase my faith in your power to
heal sick people and raise the dead

For the Church, the option for the poor is
primarily a theological category rather than a cultural,
sociological, political or philosophical one.
God
shows the poor “his first mercy”. This
divine preference has consequences for the faith life of all
Christians, since we are called to have “this mind…
which was in Jesus Christ” (Phil 2:5).
Inspired
by this, the Church has made an option for
the poor which is understood as a
“special form of primacy in the exercise of Christian charity,
to which the whole tradition of the Church bears witness”.
This
option – as Benedict XVI has taught – “is implicit in our
Christian faith in a God who became poor for us, so as to enrich
us with his poverty”.
